Just announced! The Art of Fashion 2008!

Inspiring, challenging andrecognizing the diversity of Canada'sfashion

industry will help many talentedindividuals dreams become a reality. Art of  Fashion™ is a not-for-profit organization committedto fostering the career of emerging Canadian apparel andaccessory designers by creating platforms for exposure. For over 10 years, Artof Fashion™ has supported aspiringdesigners through various eventswhich helped to foster their career.  

 

As a not-for-profit organization,Art of Fashion is run by a volunteer committee and board of directors. 

 The  Art of Fashion annual designcompetition draws an audience of young urban professionals, key members ofthe fashion industry, and local media.  Art of Fashion's involvement inScotiabank Nuit Blanche 2008 is expected to reach a wider audience and generateincreased media exposure. In 2007, Art of Fashion: Surreal Journey, an independent project of the ScotiabankNuit Blanche, reached close to 10,000 visitors. 

 

The Art of Fashion 2008

1) Saturday, October 4, 2008- THE WRONG BAR

Publicexhibit and design competition during Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, Toronto's exclusiveall-night showcase of contemporary art. 10 designers willshowcase their winning collections in thetheme of "Between theLines" and vie for the title of "Most Promising Designer"and "BestExhibit".  

 

Theme: Between the Lines: 

An exploration of personalcontroversies is depicted through works of fashion by 10 emerging Canadian fashiondesigners. This question could be answered in the sense of what represents thedivide between good and evil, black and white, heaven and hell and so on.Designs will unite their cultural, historical,community boundaries and otherelements that impacted their life and vision by tying their lives together,bringing their life from the past, to the present and future.

 2) October 29, 2008 -Trunk Show & live fashion presentation. Artists have a chance to sell theircreations to fashion buyers and the public at large. The winner of the "MostPromising Designer" by the judging panel, as well as the winner of the "BestExhibit" through the public vote is announced.

Portfolio Night 6 World Tour Announced

May 8th, 2008 Portfolio Night 6 will take place. Last year, Portfolio Night took place in over 21 different time zones on the same day. Over 1,500 juniors got their portfolios reviewed by 400 of the world's top creative directors. On Thursday May 08, 2008 ihaveanidea will be bringing Portfolio Night to even more major advertising cities around the world. Paradigm Events has organized Portfolio Night since the inagural event.

The Art of Fashion; Trunk Show The Art of Fashion will host thier annual Designer Trunk Show on October 5th at the Heliconian Hall located in the heart of Yorkville.The VIP Reception for fashion media and fashion buyers will feature entertainment by Amanda Davids. The Art of fashion, produced by Paradigm Events will be participating as a Independent Project during the highly anticipated Nuit Blanche.From 7pm-7am Toronto will come alive during this all night art festival.The Art of fashion; Surreal Journey will showcase 10 of Toronto's top Canadian Designers. Designer's will compete for the title of Most Promising Designer. The celebration was held at the Ontario Science Center on October 20th in the new exhibition space.Keeping with their sustainability mandate an exotic organic menu was provided by Encore Catering, music was supplied by Jim Clayton and decor was supplied by European Elegance.

InterCon Festival of Fire VIP Party

Paradigm Events was honoured to be selected as the event management firm for InterContinental Hotels Group of Canada's annual VIP Reception during the much anticipated Grand Finale Festival of Fire showcase at Ontario Place.  Paradigm turned the waterfront chalet into 3 sectons to highlight each country showcased during the firework finale: Brazil, China and Canada!  A red carpet and country flags lined the InterCon waterfront chalet which allowed for a tremendous view of the fireworks.  The fun and tropical country of Brazil was represented with large bountiful centerpieces, le flme lights, palm trees and thatched bar.  Guests enjoyed the speality bar which served The Caipirinha and Blueberry Caprioska.  The Chinese section of the party showcased the country with black, red, and gold decor.  Chinese lanterned lined the inside of the tent and guests enjoyed the delicious Chinese food in takeaway containers eaten with chopsticks.  Lucky bamboo and white orchids accented the tent. Canada took main stage and was sectoned off to show the many characteristics of Canada-Atlantic, Praries, and East Coast.  Mini Alberta beef burgers, Maple cured Salmon, and Canadian beer topped of Canadiana.

Paradigm Events was honoured to be selected to manage the entertainment and live production for The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario AGM, which ran from April 27- 29, 2006 at the Sheraton Parkway North in Toronto.  Custom entertainment was developed by Paradigm Events to reflect the AGM theme of Cultural Diversity. Entertainment included Native Drummers and Dancers devoted to the First Nations culture and music in Canada, Pride and Joy, a local Toronto Gay and lesbian choir and a French Canadian Band who got all the attendees tapping their feet!

Portfolio Night in Canada, hosted by ihaveanidea.org has become North America's largest portfolio review and one of the most innovative events in the advertising scene. Top creative directions from agencies around the world participated in view young hopefulls portfolios offering constructive feedback on how to make it to the top in the advertising industry.

Paradigm Events, Ihaveanidea's official event planning company, planned and organized the Toronto Portfolio Night in Canada review. Toronto is the largest of all the North American cities and has been the model for all of cities across North America.

NAPA Convention

Michelle Planche, President of Paradigm Events was one of 5 Canadian Event Planners selected by Orion Performance Group to manage the on-site NAPA convention at Paris and Bally’s hotel in Las Vegas. Over 14,000 delegates were attending the conference from December 4-8^th, 2005. Highlights of the convention were presentations from world famous Apollo 11 & 13 Astronaut James Lovell and Gene Krantz, former NASA Director of Mission Operations, and a performance by Country recording artist Sawyer Brown. The convention was a great success and Michelle was proud to be a part of such a fantastic team of professionals.

Style on the Street Fashion Show

Recently Paradigm Events produced the Eglinton Way Style on the Street outdoor fashion show. The weather cooperated and the show was a big success, featuring fashion from designers and stores located throughout the Eglinton Way BIA. The 30 minute fashion show was presented three times throughout the day long festival and was well received by the audience.

Sponsored by Fashion Magazine and Fashion 18, the runway was decorated with oversized magazine covers promoting their magazines and two of their assistant editors Alison Lawler Dean and Charise Garcia helped out with the MC duties.

The 30 –minute show featured both men’s and women’s fashion, and the theme was “how to be seen in the city” with each store or designer choosing a different theme such as how to be seen at the beach, and how to be seen lunching with your ladies.
